Current Weather Warnings at a Glance
Weather warnings are official notices from meteorological services alerting to dangerous or unusual weather conditions. On WetterScout you will find the latest weather warnings from the German Weather Service (DWD) – clearly organised by federal state and district, updated in real time.
Whether severe storm warnings, flood risk or extreme heat: our map shows at a glance which regions of Germany are currently affected – so you can react in time.
What Do the Warning Levels Mean?
The German Weather Service uses a four-level warning system based on the intensity and potential impact of the weather event:
Warning Levels Overview
Level 1 (Yellow – Weather Warning): Conditions that may cause minor disruptions. Level 2 (Orange – Significant Warning): Considerable disruptions, risk to property and safety. Level 3 (Red – Severe Weather Warning): Extreme weather events with high damage potential. Level 4 (Violet – Extreme Severe Warning): Very rare, life-threatening extreme events.
Advance Warnings
In addition to active warnings, the DWD also issues advance information – early notices of possible severe weather events 24 to 48 hours ahead. This gives you enough time to take precautions.
What Types of Warnings Are There?
Weather warnings are issued for many different weather phenomena, including: thunderstorms and heavy rain, gales and hurricanes, snow and ice, fog, frost, heat and storm surges. Depending on the season and region, different warning types may apply.
Regions in southern Germany are particularly often affected by thunderstorms in summer, while northern Germany frequently sees storm warnings in autumn and winter. The interactive map on WetterScout visualises all active warning areas clearly and intuitively.
Why Are Weather Warnings Important?
Weather warnings save lives and help minimise property damage. They provide guidance for the right preparation: close windows, secure outdoor furniture, postpone trips or check basements. Those who are informed in time can take the right precautions.
WetterScout sources warnings directly from the German Weather Service (DWD) – Germany's official meteorological authority. Data is updated multiple times a day so you are always informed about the current weather situation.
