What Do the Warning Levels Mean?
HungaroMet uses a three-level warning system based on the expected intensity and danger of the weather event:

Yellow (Caution): Weather may complicate everyday activities – increased caution advised. Orange (Warning): Dangerous weather conditions with possible property or personal damage. Red (Danger): Extremely dangerous weather with significant risk to property and life.
What Time Period Do the Warnings Cover?
HungaroMet warnings cover three days ahead: today, tomorrow and the day after. This gives you enough time to reschedule travel, postpone garden work, or prepare around the house.
What Types of Hazards Occur in Hungary?
The most common warning types include thunderstorms, strong wind, heavy rain and cloudbursts, snowfall, heat, cold, freezing rain and fog. Depending on the season and region, different hazards apply.
Summer is dominated by thunderstorms, heavy rain and heat warnings, while winter sees snowfall, black ice and fog causing the most disruption – especially on the Great Plain and in the hilly regions.
